Movies, Poetry & 80's 3/9

9:00 AM / Comments (0) / by BayScope

I hope everyone has had their fill of costumes and beads. Today we're going to tone it down a bit with a movie, poetry show and an 80's party. Costumes are not required but I'm sure they won't be turned down. Don't be afraid to wear your beads if they're still attached to your next from yesterday's festivities.

Movie Night: Megamind & Galaxy Quest
The Variety Preview Room Theatre
582 Market St., San Francisco

Watch two great movies tonight free of charge at the Variety Preview Room. The first movie is Megamind , a great animated movie about a supervillan that the whole family can enjoy. After a brief intermission, Galaxy Quest will be showing. This one is a comedy but definitely for more mature audiences. Enjoy free popcorn and first come, first served seating. Get there early to avoid the rush. Doors open at 6pm.

Poetry Slam
Starry Plough
3103 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley

It's that time again! Join the Starry Plough for their weekly poetry slam. If you're looking to enter, sign-ups begin at 7:30pm and poets who place in the top 3 win cash prizes. The audience will be your judge so bring 3 of your best pieces. For those coming to be a part of that audience, cover is $8 and seats fill up fast so get there early.

80's Party & $.80 Drinks
The Ruby Room
132 14th St., Oakland

Go back to the 80's from 10pm till 2am at the Ruby Room! The DJ will be spinning the highlights of the era and there will be a danceoff at midnight that you won't want to miss. Also, there will be 80cent well drinks all night long. Go out and enjoy yourself, and sign up if you think you have what it takes to be the danceoff champ. Check the event page on facebook for more information on how to sign up. Doors open at 10pm.
