Birthday, New Year & Ragtme 3/15

9:00 AM / Comments (0) / by BayScope

The week has barely begun and I already hear the weekend calling my name. I wasn't able to take advantage of Pi day, but I hope everyone else got their $3.14 slice of Key Lime. Today there's are two festivals and a musical performance. If you're in the city or in Berkeley, or even the surrounding areas, you'll have the opportunity to either celebrate a new season or a birthday bash. It's your choice. Personally I enjoy learning about new cultures.

Haighteration Birthday Bash
Lower Haight
Haight & Steiner, San Francisco

It's the 1st anniversary of the Haighteration blog! If you live in the Lowe Haight, you'll be glad to know that there are lots of great deals happening today in your area. Highlights include a special Haighteration ice cream flavor at Three Twins, a sneak peak at the Greenburger's menu, and special Haighteration shirts for sale at Merch! Check out what other Haight businesses are giving out deals and take advantage of them all!

Persian New Year Festival
2000 Block of Durant Ave, Berkeley

We may be three months into 2011, but the Persians are just now entering their new year. Celebrate with them on Durant Ave. in Berkeley from 6 till 10pm and bring in the Spring season. There will be Persian music, food and crafts, and the event will end with ceremonious bonfires. Go enjoy the family friendly event and learn a bit more about the Persian culture.

Ragtime Skedaddlers - Free Performance
50 Mason Social House
50 Mason St., San Francisco

Tonight the Ragtime Skedaddlers are giving a free performance at the Mason Social House. Starting at 10pm, the string band will put on a program of "rousing rags, cakewalks, and marches, and entrancing waltzes and habaneras. Maybe a maxixe." If you really like what you hear, look for their CD.
