The Albany Recreation Department is holding classes today on how to make beer, rain barrels, terrariums, and hand embroidery. Later on they'll cover identifying backyard birds, knitting & plumbing. These are some interesting skills to learn that may definitely come in handy so be sure to attend a class or two. The event itself lasts from 2pm until 5pm, but class start times vary so be sure to check the website.

Even with the snow that fell last night, the Polar Plunge is still on! Swimmers of all ages will be braving the cold and taking a dive in the Bay, raising money for Special Olympics Northern California. For those who prefer to swim in warmer conditions, come and watch the spectacle for a good cause and dress in costume because as they say, "It's not just a plunge, it's a Party!" The Dive starts at 11:30am.


9th Annual Celebrity Crab Festival

It's all about the seafood today at Union Square. The SF 49er foundation is holding their 9th annual Celebrity Crab Festival. Team players will show you the art of cracking a crab and you'll have the opportunity to sample crab and other seafood from local restaurants. As with every festival there will be both music and entertainment for the entire family, and even better, everything used at the event will be completely recyclable. Festival lasts from 12 noon until 3pm, with a Crab Cracking Competition at 12:30. Don't miss it.

If you don't like pie, you will after this event. The Pie Extremist Group is bringing back last years event for round 2! It's Free and open to the 21+ crowd, easily accessible from the Montgomery St. BART station.  In spanish, Amor Ardiente means Burning Love, and what better way to experience that than at The Crucible? There's a $10 cover, but the party is free to all Crucible members. Expect to enjoy some great hikes along the shoreline and an opening reception with food and wine from 5:30 to 7pm.

This is yet another reminder that Valentine's day is quickly approaching. If you're looking for some pre-Valentine's day fun, stop by Union street between 4 and 8pm. Today is the "1st Annual Union Street Has A Crush On You Valentine Wine Walk." Come out with a friend or loved one for a nice stroll and glass of wine in San Francisco. Select restaurants and business will be providing wine samples and other treats for this pleasant evening. Walking is free, as it should be, but Wine tasting wristbands will be for sale at $30 each so take advantage while you can.

Tonight is another great, Free show at the CELLspace. If you're new to this particular scene, SPACECRAFT is a monthly art show featuring both CELLspace and local artists and highlighting their many talents. Expect to see some great paintings, and hear some unique songs that will keep you coming back for more. Show starts at 7pm.

Welcome back to another eventful Tuesday, and Happy Chinese New Year! There are a lot of fun things to get into today so enjoy what you can, and schedule for later anything you can't. It's a New Chinese Year, so that's always a reason to celebrate. Aside from that, you can bring out your inner designer with the Bay Area's version of Fashion Runway, and when it's all said and done, let out all your stress and frustrations into an open mic. Don't be afraid, it's there to listen.

I'm sure we've all had our share of excitement this weekend cheering for our favorite teams. Congratulations to the Green Bay Packers for winning the Superbowl! It was a a good game and a well deserved win. Hopefully next year we'll have something even better to look forward to.


Free Sailing Lessons

It's a great day to go sailing, and what better way to learn than with the Cal Sailing Club! It's a completely hands-on lesson and you will get wet, so be prepared. Show up to the clubhouse between 1pm and 4pm to get in, and be aware it's a first come, first serve basis. You can expect to be sailing for an hour and a half. Have fun!


SAP Open Tennis Tournament

The SAP Open begins today, which is great news for all you tennis fans out there! Go watch the tennis pros competing for the top spot! Get your tickets in advance and show up to the HP Pavilion in San Jose. If you can't make it tonight, the tournament lasts through Sunday so check their schedule online for a match that fits your schedule.


Free Movie: Despicable Me

Normally one would think that an animated movie is specifically made to entertain kids, but putting this movie into that category would be a mistake. It's about an evil scientist and his quest to steal the moon, but his plans are interrupted by three little orphan girls in need of a home. Despicable Me will definitely have you laughing all night long. Movie starts at 8pm, but be there early for a good seat.

Even if you're not all that into football, you can expect to see some of televisions best commercials so take a seat and prepare for some great entertainment.
