9:00 AM / Comments (0) / by BayScope

We have yet again reached the week's halfway mark. Today we have another event in the name of MLK, another free museum day, and a few movies. Overall, a pretty laid back day.

Free Admission - California Academy of Sciences
55 Music Concourse Dr., San Francisco

It's another Free Day at the Academy of Sciences. Doors open at 9:30am and close at 5pm but you can expect a long line at the entrance to be prepared to get there early. If you haven't been then take this opportunity to go. It's a great hands on exhibit full of great activities for children and adults.

Martin Luther King Celebration
Kaiser Center Auditorium
300 Lakeside Dr., Oakland

Come out to the Kaiser Center in Oakland at 12pm for a great MLK tribute featuring performances by the Oakland School for the Arts and the Oakland Interfaith Gospel Choir. There's also free lunch for the first 150 attendees so get there early to enjoy the festivities.

Free Movie: "Good Hair"
San Francisco Main Library
100 Larkin St., San Francisco

The Teen Center and the African American Center present a documentary by comedian Chris Rock.
"Good Hair." If you haven't seen it, you should. Chris Rock is already a hilarious comedian and mixing that with a great documentary makes for some good entertainment. Chris digs deep into the black culture looking to define what "good hair" is in the African American community. Showing starts at 5pm so check it out.

Free Movie Night: "Despicable Me" & "Futurama"
Variety Preview Room Theater
582 Market St., San Francisco

Another great movie for the great price of Free! "Despicable Me" is great for the kids, and "Futurama" is something more for the adults. There's limited space so first come, first served. Also there will be a raffle with some great prizes so bring a few dollars with you for a chance to win a few prizes. Doors and cash bar open at 6pm and the movies start at 7pm.
