Midweek Melee

9:00 AM / Comments (0) / by BayScope

This week seems to have gone by extremely fast! Here are a few things to do today to keep that momentum going.

Free Admission to the Exploratorium
3601 Lyon Street, San Francisco

If you haven't been to the Exploratorium in San Francisco yet, you're missing out. It's great for kids and adult with a lot of hands-on activities. The museum opens at 10 but because there's no admission, expect a long line. Get there early!

Free Admission to the San Francisco Zoo
Sloat Blvd. at 47th Ave., San Francisco

Despite the fact that it's Winter, today  isn't a bad day to visit the zoo. We've gotten a break from the rain so if you don't make it to the exploratorium, go out and enjoy some exotic animals. Just don't feed the monkeys. The zoo is open from 10am to 5pm.

Free Movie & Popcorn
Embarcadero Center Cinema
1 Embarcadero Center, San Francisco

You can't really go wrong with a free movie. Showtime and Landmark Theatres are showing an advance screening of a new Showtime series, "Shameless." Showtime generally has some pretty good shows, and this one looks fairly interesting. Also they're giving everyone free popcorn and drinks, the perfect compliments to any movie. Be there early! Check-in starts at 6pm, and the movie begins at 7pm. First come first serve!

Poetry Slam
The Starry Plough
3101 Shattuck Ave, Berkeley

This is one of the hidden gems of Berkeley. Every Thursday at 8 The Starry Plough hosts a Poetry Slam  featuring some great poets and a prize money for the winner. If you think you can match up with the top dogs, bring your best pieces. Sign-ups start at 7. Seats fill up fast so if you're coming be there early as well. Show starts at 8 and cover is $8.
