Walking, Jazz & Movies 9/15

9:00 AM / Comments (0) / by BayScope

This week is just flying by. Just one more day and we'll be able to put our feet up and enjoy two days of rest. At least those of us with weekends off. If you're not so lucky don't be too upset. So far there doesn't seem to be too much going on, but only time will tell. But until then here are a few things to keep us occupied.

American Heart Association Heart Walk
Snow Park
19th St. and Harrison St., Oakland
11:30am - 1pm

When you join Heart Walk, you join more than a million people in 300+ cities across America in taking a stand against heart disease and helping save lives!

The funds you raise in the Heart Walk will support projects like these:
-Putting up-to-the-minute research into doctors' hands so they can better prevent and treat heart disease among patients.

-Groundbreaking pediatric heart and stroke research. About 36,000 babies are born with heart defects each year --research is the key to saving babies' lives.

Yoshi's Free Jazz Night
Yoshi's Jazz Club
1330 Fillmore St., San Francisco
6pm - 9pm

Jazz up your Thursday evening at a free concert series in Yoshi’s Jazz Lounge on Thursday, September 15 from 6 till 9 p.m. Every Thursday in September, as a part of the brand new Yoshi’s Local Talent Series, jazz vocalist & songwriter NaJe will perform the best of the great American songbook and beyond with her soulful, sultry voice and style heavily influenced by jazz greats like Billie Holiday and Ella Fitzgerald.

Free Outdoor Film: No Reservations
Jack London Square, Oakland
8pm - 10pm

Attend a free summer outdoor film screening under the stars and close to the water as part of Jack London Square’s “Waterfront Flicks” Thursday night series. Tonight’s screening is No Reservations - In this terribly derivative and predictable romantic kitchen comedy starring Catherine Zeta-Jones and Aaron Eckhart, the life of a top chef changes when she becomes the guardian of her young niece.
