Art, Comedy & Football 4/28

9:00 AM / Comments (0) / by BayScope

I was recently turned on to a place in Albany that I didn't know existed. The Albany Bulb is a dog park that features lots of junkyard art. It's really pretty interesting and a nice place to take a walk. You can find some pictures of the Bulb here on this public Twitter account. Soon there will be a page just for interesting places around the bay, so keep an eye out.

Oakland Raiders Official Draft Party
Everett & Jones
126 Broadway, Oakland
4pm - 9pm

It's all about the Raiders today at Everett & Jones. They have some of the best bbq around, and today they're having a draft party for the Raiders. Show up between 4 and 9 for some music, special appearances and autographs from some of the Raiders and Raiderettes. There will also be a live stream from the NFL Draft Headquarters in NYC to keep an eye on things. It's free to the public so stop by, and I suggest ordering the Hot Link Sandwich. It's really good.

Art Opening: Undressed
Public Works
161 Erie St., San Francisco
7pm - 10pm

"Public Work's Roll Up Gallery is proud to present UNDRESSED, powerful collection of portraits articulating the human body and expanding distinctions between nudity as erotic and expressive. The exhibit, with work featuring local Bay Area artists, presents nudity in a wide variety of mediums, including photography, prints, paintings, collages, installations and video works. "

This is definitely not one for the kids. Free admission for the 21+ crowd.

Live Standup Comedy
4 STAR Move Theatre
2200 Clement St., San Francisco
8pm - 10pm

Cheap comedy shows are the best, and even better with free snacks. Bring $7 to the 4 STAR Theater and you'll be in for a great stand-up showcase featuring some local talent. Tickets are available online or at the door. Take some time tonight to laugh.

Oakland Comedy Slam and Open Mic
The Oasis Restaurant & Bar
135 12th St., Oakland
8pm - 11pm

"Our feature before the Slam is Baltimore-based spoken-word meets hip-hop soul group The 5th L. This duo is comprised of David Ross/Native Son and Femi Lawal/The Dri Fish. They are an action packed poetry experience that delivers spoken word with the skilled theatrics of a Broadway show and the high energy a rap artist exerts on stage and yet able to maintain the poetic integrity of Langston Hughes to entertain and enlighten audiences."

Shows are $7 before 8:30pm and $10 after. If you bring it to the mic, you can get in for only $5.
