Today is the final day of Tulipmania! Take a trip down to Pier 39 and take in the scenery. For the past week the pier has been filled with over 39,000 tulips of every size, shape and color. There are free waterfront tours starting at 10am for those wanting the full experience, and complimentary refreshments after at the Fog Harbor Fish House. Enjoy now before it's too late.


Learn to Make Beer & Other Skills

For the Do-It-Yourself advocates, this is something that you'll want to take full advantage of. The Albany Recreation Department is holding classes today on how to make beer, rain barrels, terrariums, and hand embroidery. Later on they'll cover identifying backyard birds, knitting & plumbing. These are some interesting skills to learn that may definitely come in handy so be sure to attend a class or two. The event itself lasts from 2pm until 5pm, but class start times vary so be sure to check the website.

Now is the perfect time to be proud of that Mexican heritage. Each month the La Pena Cultural Center puts on an afternoon of great music with an awesome jam session in the cafe lobby. Polar Plunge 2011]

Even with the snow that fell last night, the Polar Plunge is still on! Swimmers of all ages will be braving the cold and taking a dive in the Bay, raising money for Special Olympics Northern California. For those who prefer to swim in warmer conditions, come and watch the spectacle for a good cause and dress in costume because as they say, "It's not just a plunge, it's a Party!" The Dive starts at 11:30am.


9th Annual Celebrity Crab Festival

It's all about the seafood today at Union Square. The SF 49er foundation is holding their 9th annual Celebrity Crab Festival. Team players will show you the art of cracking a crab and you'll have the opportunity to sample crab and other seafood from local restaurants. As with every festival there will be both music and entertainment for the entire family, and even better, everything used at the event will be completely recyclable. Festival lasts from 12 noon until 3pm, with a Crab Cracking Competition at 12:30. Don't miss it.


4th Annual Amoeba Music Art Show

Nick also has an artistic side to his photography and those photos will be on display as well during this exhibition of 1,001 images. Show starts at 5pm at Public Works.

It's Tuesday, and for many of us it means the return to our regular scheduled work/school week. The rainy weather seems to have died down a bit so we can enjoy a few more activities outdoors. Soon I'll add a page of places to go around the Bay for those who enjoy exploring new places. Until then, today's events will have to suffice.


Noise Pop 2011: Happy Hour Concert

It's that time again. Those precious hours set aside between 5 and 7pm to relax, have a few drinks, and be happy. If you need a smile on your face, this is the perfect place to find one.
